Meet the speakers at relates 2026

Knowledge truly comes to life when it connects with people’s realities and paves the way for the common good. At this international gathering, the University of La Frontera brings together leading specialists in mental health, systemic intervention, and community well-being to discuss, reflect upon, and share tools to address the most pressing human challenges of our time.

Explore the profiles of those leading this year’s presentations: academic trajectories of excellence put at the service of intercultural dialogue, ethical training and social commitment to our region, Chile and Latin America.

Dra. Regina Giraldo

Background: Psychologist, PhD in Social Welfare, and Master's in Systemic Family Therapy. Founder and director of Fundaterapia and former president of RELATES (2019-2022). She has developed extensive clinical, academic, and training experience in family and couples therapy.
Research: Investigates domestic and spousal abuse, partner violence, and family dynamics after separation. Develops a therapy model for separated parents and tools for assessing abusive relationships.
To contribute to the strengthening and expansion of systemic therapy in Latin America, promoting academic and clinical exchange around the family, the couple and the problems of violence.

Dr. Felipe Garcia

Background: Psychologist, academic, and psychotherapist specializing in systemic and brief psychotherapy. Founder and General Director of CESIST-Chile, with postgraduate training in Brief Strategic Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis.
Research: Director of the Doctoral Program in Mental Health at the University of Concepción and postgraduate professor in Chile and Latin America. Author of more than 40 scientific articles published in indexed journals.
In RELATES: A perspective that articulates research, training and clinical practice, providing new perspectives to understand and develop systemic and brief psychotherapy.

Dr. Juan Luis Linares

Background: Doctor of Medicine. Psychiatrist. Psychologist. Founder of the Sant Pau School of Family Therapy and an international authority on systemic therapy, with a career spanning more than four decades dedicated to the development of this discipline.
Research: Her research addresses psychopathology and family relationships in contexts of severe pathology and social complexity, developing the Relational Nutrition Model or Basic Relationships Theory.
In RELATES: Co-founder of RELATES and Honorary President, with a career dedicated to the development and dissemination of systemic thinking in Europe and Latin America.

PhD. Rodrigo Jarpa

Background: PhD in Human Sexuality. Clinical psychologist and sexologist with specialized training in human sexuality, sexual and couple therapy, integrating cognitive-behavioral approaches, brief therapy and the Gottman Model.
Research: Study of human sexuality, sexual health and sexual dysfunctions, linking scientific evidence with clinical approach and sex education.
In RELATES: Incorporating sexuality as a fundamental dimension of human experience and psychotherapeutic work.

Dr. Raúl Medina

Background: PhD in Social Psychology. Professor and researcher at the University of Guadalajara and founder of the Tzapopan Institute, Mexico. Experience as a consultant in universities, organizations, and ministries in Latin America.
Research: His main lines of research address family, couples, organizations, and the theory of science. He is a developer of Critical Family Therapy, Clinical Social Psychology, and Collaborative Consulting.
In RELATES: It provides a critical, social and collaborative perspective on the development of family therapy and systemic psychotherapy.

Dr. Horacio Serebrinsky

Background: PhD in Social Psychology. Clinical psychologist and therapist for adults, couples, families, and groups, with training in Social Psychology, Family Therapy, and specialization in groups, adolescence, and addictions. Director of the Argentine Systemic School and university professor.
Research: His work articulates Social Psychology and Systemic Therapy, developing theoretical and clinical contributions regarding relationships, groups, and psychotherapy. Author of "All Therapeutic Experiences Are Failures: For Psychologists, Patients, and the Impatient."
In RELATES: It provides a perspective that integrates Social Psychology, systemic thinking and clinical experience, enriching the understanding of the links and processes of change in psychotherapy.

Reynaldo Perrone

Background: Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist. Former Associate Professor at Pierre Mendès-France University in Grenoble and Director of Studies at IFATC in Lyon. He has extensive experience as a trainer in Family Therapy and Brief Strategic Therapy in France and internationally.
Research: Develops a systemic understanding of intrafamilial violence and sexual abuse, delving into aggression, power relations, and the relational organization of violence.
In RELATES: Strengthening systemic training in addressing violence and sexual abuse, providing tools to understand and intervene in highly complex family relationships.

Dr. Marcelo Ceberio

Background: PhD in Psychology. Professor and researcher. Trained in the systemic model at the MRI in Palo Alto and at renowned schools of family therapy. Academic and research director of the Argentine Systemic School (ESA) and LINCS.
Research: Develops research that integrates systemic thinking, social sciences and neurosciences, with an emphasis on change processes, relationships and psychotherapeutic practice.
In RELATES: To contribute to the development of Latin American systemic therapy, promoting the exchange between research, clinical practice and new perspectives on relational processes.

Roberto Pereira

Background: Medical Doctor, Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist. Over 40 years of experience in psychotherapy, training, and clinical practice. Founder and director of EVNTF, with a distinguished career in the development of Systemic Family Therapy in Spain, Europe, and Latin America.
Research: Author of articles and books specializing in Systemic Family Therapy and psychotherapy. His work has contributed to the reflection, dissemination, and development of this approach in the clinical and academic fields.
In RELATES: Founding member and former president of RELATES, actively participating in the construction and strengthening of an Ibero-American community dedicated to the development of systemic psychotherapy.

Dr. Gonzalo Bacigalupo

Background: PhD in Psychological Counseling and Family Therapy. Master's in Public Health. Full Professor of Psychology and Mental Health at the University of Massachusetts Boston, with over three decades of experience in Chile, the United States, and Spain. Member of the Family Process Institute and former president of the American Family Therapy Academy.
Research: Her work integrates systemic family therapy, public health, social and environmental justice, exploring the relational dimensions of contemporary crises, including climate change, disasters, and digital technologies.
In RELATES: A systemic look at contemporary social challenges, integrating public health, social and environmental justice in understanding the crises that families and communities are going through.

Felipe García

FELIPE GARCÍA – Doctor y Magíster en Psicología

TRAYECTORIA: Psicólogo, académico y psicoterapeuta especializado en terapia sistémica y psicoterapia breve. Fundador y Director General de CESIST-Chile, con formación de postítulo en Terapia Estratégica Breve e Hipnosis Clínica.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Director del Doctorado en Salud Mental de la Universidad de Concepción y docente de postgrados en Chile y Latinoamérica. Autor de más de 40 artículos científicos publicados en revistas indexadas.

EN RELATES: Una mirada que articula investigación, formación y práctica clínica, aportando nuevas perspectivas para comprender y desarrollar la psicoterapia sistémica y breve.

Juan Luis Linares

JUAN LUIS LINARES – Dr. en Medicina • Psiquiatra • Psicólogo

TRAYECTORIA: Fundador de la Escuela de Terapia Familiar Sant Pau y referente internacional de la terapia sistémica, con una trayectoria de más de cuatro décadas dedicada al desarrollo de esta disciplina.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Sus investigaciones abordan la psicopatología y las relaciones familiares en contextos de patología grave y complejidad social, desarrollando el Modelo de Nutrición Relacional o Teoría de las Relaciones Básicas.

EN RELATES: Co-fundador de RELATES y Presidente Honorífico, con una trayectoria dedicada al desarrollo y difusión del pensamiento sistémico en Europa y Latinoamérica.

Rodrigo Jarpa

RODRIGO JARPA – PhD. en Sexualidad Humana

TRAYECTORIA: Psicólogo clínico y sexólogo con formación especializada en sexualidad humana, terapia sexual y de pareja, integrando enfoques cognitivo-conductuales, terapia breve y Modelo Gottman.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Estudio de la sexualidad humana, salud sexual y disfunciones sexuales, vinculando evidencia científica con el abordaje clínico y la educación sexual.

EN RELATES: Incorporar la sexualidad como una dimensión fundamental de la experiencia humana y del trabajo psicoterapéutico.

Raúl Medina

RAÚL MEDINA – Doctor en Psicología Social

TRAYECTORIA: Profesor-investigador de la Universidad de Guadalajara y fundador del Instituto Tzapopan, México. Experiencia como consultor en universidades, organizaciones y ministerios de Latinoamérica.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Sus principales líneas abordan la familia, la pareja, las organizaciones y la teoría de la ciencia. Desarrollador de la Terapia Familiar Crítica, la Psicología Social Clínica y la Consultoría Colaborativa.

EN RELATES: Aporta una mirada crítica, social y colaborativa al desarrollo de la terapia familiar y la psicoterapia sistémica.

Horacio Serebrinsky

HORACIO SEREBRINSKY – Doctor en Psicología Social

TRAYECTORIA: Psicólogo clínico y terapeuta de adultos, parejas, familias y grupos, con formación en Psicología Social, Terapia Familiar y especialización en grupos, adolescencia y adicciones. Director de la Escuela Sistémica Argentina y docente universitario.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Su trabajo articula la Psicología Social y la Terapia Sistémica, desarrollando aportes teóricos y clínicos en torno a los vínculos, los grupos y la psicoterapia. Autor de “Todos fracasos experiencias terapéuticas : para psicólogos, pacientes e impacientes”

EN RELATES: Aporta una mirada que integra Psicología Social, pensamiento sistémico y experiencia clínica, enriqueciendo la comprensión de los vínculos y los procesos de cambio en psicoterapia.

Reynaldo Perrone

REYNALDO PERRONE – Psiquiatra • Psicoterapeuta

TRAYECTORIA: Exprofesor asociado de la Universidad Pierre Mendès-France de Grenoble y Director de Estudios del IFATC de Lyon. Cuenta con una amplia trayectoria como formador en Terapia Familiar y Terapia Breve Estratégica en Francia y a nivel internacional.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Desarrolla una comprensión sistémica de la violencia y el abuso sexual intrafamiliar, profundizando en la agresividad, las relaciones de poder y la organización relacional de la violencia.

EN RELATES: Fortalecer la formación sistémica en el abordaje de la violencia y los abusos sexuales, aportando herramientas para comprender e intervenir en relaciones familiares de alta complejidad.

Marcelo Ceberio

MARCELO CEBERIO – Dr. en Psicología. Docente e investigador

TRAYECTORIA: Formado en el modelo sistémico en el MRI de Palo Alto y en reconocidas escuelas de terapia familiar. Director académico y de investigación de la Escuela Sistémica Argentina (ESA) y del LINCS.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Desarrolla investigaciones que integran pensamiento sistémico, ciencias sociales y neurociencias, con énfasis en los procesos de cambio, las relaciones y la práctica psicoterapéutica.

EN RELATES: Aportar al desarrollo de la terapia sistémica latinoamericana, promoviendo el intercambio entre investigación, práctica clínica y nuevas perspectivas sobre los procesos relacionales.

Roberto Pereira

ROBERTO PEREIRA – Médico Psiquiatra • Psicoterapeuta

TRAYECTORIA: Más de 40 años de experiencia en psicoterapia, formación y práctica clínica. Fundador y director de la EVNTF, con una destacada trayectoria en el desarrollo de la Terapia Familiar Sistémica en España, Europa y Latinoamérica.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Autor de artículos y libros especializados en Terapia Familiar Sistémica y psicoterapia. Su trabajo ha contribuido a la reflexión, difusión y desarrollo de este enfoque en el ámbito clínico y académico.

EN RELATES: Miembro fundador y expresidente de RELATES, participando activamente en la construcción y fortalecimiento de una comunidad iberoamericana dedicada al desarrollo de la psicoterapia sistémica.

Gonzalo Bacigalupo

GONZALO BACIGALUPO – Dr. en Consultoría Psicológica y Terapia Familiar • Magíster en Salud Pública

TRAYECTORIA: Profesor Titular en Psicología y Salud Mental de la Universidad de Massachusetts Boston, con más de tres décadas de trayectoria en Chile, Estados Unidos y España. Miembro del Family Process Institute y expresidente de la American Family Therapy Academy.

INVESTIGACIÓN: Su trabajo integra terapia familiar sistémica, salud pública, justicia social y ambiental. Explorando las dimensiones relacionales de las crisis contemporáneas, incluyendo el cambio climático, los desastres y las tecnologías digitales.

EN RELATES: Una mirada sistémica hacia los desafíos sociales contemporáneos, integrando salud pública, justicia social y ambiental en la comprensión de las crisis que atraviesan a las familias y comunidades.
